Whitetail Success with Scent

One time while Whitetail hunting in Virginia about 8 years ago, a doe approached with a fawn. The unusual thing about this doe was the smell that came before she was even in view. I remember thinking it smelled like a Tink's truck had a wreck. They passed without knowing I was there but returned about an hour later with a very large 9 pointer's nose glued to her rump. She was taking him back to her place I guess. Anyway, he still looks good hanging on my wall and many times after that I kept thinking how if I could only duplicate that odor and in that quantity, any buck downwind would surely come to investigate. Buying the 2 ounce bottles of doe in heat scent and putting it in film canisters around my stand did not even come close to being the same. For the past 3 years, I have purchased 1 gallon of doe in heat scent from Westwind Whitetails. I have had great success mixing it with distilled water and either wicking it onto a large towel sized rag or boiling it and creating a vapor. Either way I use about a pint to a quart of the scent during a single hunt. It does not create a buck out of thin air, but I am confident that if the rut is in and a buck is downwind, he will be coming. I tried two other scent suppliers before Westwind but found their scent did not seem to be consistant from year to year. Visit westwindwhitetails.com to check out the scents they have available. I do not work for them, I am just a very satisfied customer.

Joe, This is funny. I don't know you but I have been telling everyone on my other deer hunting site about Westwind. There is nothing like it. This stuff is a must for deer hunters.
